Explaining Condensation to Concerned Customers

This is the time of year that homeowners may start to see condensation on their doors and windows. If this is their first cold season with one or both of these new products in their home, they may reach out to you, thinking something is wrong. Sharing this information can help reassure them that it’s a normal effect of chilly weather!

Interior Condensation

Condensation typically occurs inside the home when it’s extremely cold outside and the humidity level inside is too high to support the colder temperatures. As the outside temperatures drop, reducing the humidity level inside will help reduce condensation.

Exterior Condensation

Condensation on the exterior of the home occurs naturally when the outside air and Dew Point temperatures are close to being the same. When this happens, the air becomes 100% saturated with water vapor, which is then released to lay on exterior surfaces of the home.

Gilkey Reviews

Sharon EllisSharon Ellis ★★★★★ As always from marketing team to installation was professional, courteous and caring. The installation was excellent and cleanup was thorough. The quality and the warranty of the product are excellent. I love my new door. I highly recommend Gilkey Window Co.Casey RiceCasey Rice ★★★★★ I worked with Tom S. as my representative and Brian C. as my installer. I couldn’t have been more pleased with both sides of the experience. I reside in a home that was built in 1876 and I needed full replacement of 3 outside doors & door frames, I was not looking forward to the process.Gilkey was my 3rd effort at having someone come look at it. Should’ve been my first. The way Tom would make sure he understood everything I wanted, to fielding my calls when I had another question and not hesitating to ask someone (Brian) if he didn’t have an answer, along with great follow up.Brian C. was quite a talent. It was so refreshing to have someone work on your home that paid that much attention to detail, commitment to a well done job as if their own and preserving the aesthetic of a home built in 1876, incredible. Well done, Brian. Well done.Tom S. & Brian C. knocked it out of the park for me with every aspect of the project, especially when it seems so hard to find anymore. Thank you, it was a pleasure working with you both and Gilkey.MichaelMichael ★★★★★ Back in October of 2022 we had a representative come out to give a free estimate. The pitch was very quick and not overly long like a competitor (Renewal), he answered all of our questions, and the rep was able to email us a quote that same day. Granted, we had to do some haggling on our part to get as good of a discount as we could squeeze.Regardless, the rep said it would take 20 weeks before the sliding patio door could be installed. Fast forward 20 weeks later, we got an email that our door was done but it didn’t end up getting schedule to be installed for another two weeks. So the wasn’t exactly right on the date, but close enough.Really, there were really only two negatives, which was the day before installation we got a call saying it had to be postponed one day due to staff shortages and vehicle problems. Since I work from home, it wasn’t a big deal. The other negative was on the day of installation the screen door was ready and we had to wait another week before that got installed. While I would have given one less star for that, Gilkey compensated us by upgrading the screen to the higher durable pet screen for free.John, who installed the door by himself, did a fantastic job from what we could tell. No issues as of yet. And Jason who installed the screen door did so very quickly.Theresa EdwardsTheresa Edwards ★★★★☆ Installed one glass wall & 2 sliding glass doors with screens on my patio at my condo. Quality work & design, but a long wait for installation & build.Mary FosterMary Foster ★★★★★ Installed 2 sliding glass doors. Great quality! They did a great job!js_loader
